The primary mirror of this Ritchey-Chretien telescope has a diameter of 152cm, the secondary one of 52cm. The telescope has two focal lengths: a Ritchey-Chretien focus (12.5m), and a Cassegrain focus (22.5m). The first scientific pictures were taken in 1970. The telescope is located at the Leopold-Figl-Observatory for Astrophysics at the Mitterschöpfl in Lower Austria.

This event was attended by both amateur astronomers and the Department of Astronomy of the University Vienna. The visitors could see details of the surrounding buildings, the sun, the moon and other astronomical objects through the telescopes.
