Looking Back: Vienna in Space 2025
On 5 September 2025, the Department of Astrophysics hosted for the first time the "Vienna in Space” event, in collaboration with TU Wien, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Planetarium Wien – VHS.
During the three-hour event, around 270 visitors of all ages were able to enjoy a variety of activities. Highlights included a series of short talks, shows in the mobile planetarium, guided tours of the Large Refractor telescope and the Maximilian Collection, two science shows on rockets presented by the Planetarium Wien, information about the astronomy study programme, and a children’s station featuring space films and drawing activities.
The aim of Vienna in Space was to foster a deeper understanding of space research as well as of the scientific institutions based in Vienna. This event was inspired by "Graz in Space", which has been held every two years for more than 20 years.
