Tours
The Institute of Astrophysics is housed in the Observatory of the University of Vienna, in the heart of the XVIII District of Währing. The Observatory can be visited during open monthly tours or private tours.

What is there to see?
- The Observatory built from 1874 - 1880 by the architect duo Fellner & Helmer.
- The largest lense telescope in Austria, the 10.5 meter long Grubb refractor.
- The "Maximilian Hell" collection with exhibits of the history of astronomy
The contents of each visit may vary due to availability.

Public monthly tours
- Every last Thursday of the month at 7 pm and in the summer months (April-June) at 8 pm (no guided tours in July, August, September and December).
- Duration: one hour
- Free of charge
- Pre-registration required.

Private tours
- Duration: one hour
- Price: 70€ for up to 25 participants*.
- Guided tours are offered in different languages (ask for availability)
- Tours adapted for children can be arranged on request
- The tours usually take place on weekdays (Mon-Fri) with a starting time between 9 am and 4 pm.
