During the worldwide event 100 Hours of Astronomy, the Day of Astronomy took place on the Maria-Theresien-Platz in Vienna on April 4th, 2009. This event was attended by both amateur astronomers and the Department of Astronomy of the University Vienna. Some experiments were shown in the Natural History Museum. The visitors could see the convection of the surface of the sun simulated by a oil-aluminum suspension heated up by tea candles.
