The course of study (Master's Program)
- Mandatory modules are the research seminar, the master's thesis and the master's examination
- The current compulsory electives are divided into three knowledge areas, from which at least one of the elective modules must be selected. At least 6 of the 9 modules must be completed to achieve the required 48 ECTS for the entire elective module group.
- The 3 compulsory modules are Galaxies and Universe, Stars and Planets, and Astronomical Research Methods.
The courses of these elective modules alternate in a cycle that is repeated every 2 years. It is therefore advisable not to postpone courses.
Below is a table for the upcoming semesters of the rotation. The Preparatory and Research seminars are held every semester:
Semester | Galaxies and Universe | ISM, stars, and planets | Astronomical research methods |
---|---|---|---|
uneven year WiSe | Formation and evolution of galaxies | Interstellar medium and Milky Way | Astronomical observation methods |
even year SoSe | Dynamics of galaxies | Structure and evolution of planetary systems | Data Science in Astrophysics |
even year WiSe | Physical Properties of Galaxies | SF: From Molecular Clouds to Protostars | Observational practical course |
uneven year SoSe | Early universe and structure growth | Solar and stellar Astrophysics | Methods of computational Astrophysics |
- The other courses can be completed freely from the changing range of seminars, lectures and practical courses at the institute. All courses from the Master's area can be used for the subject-related NaWi courses.
